Thoughts On the Phone Policy

When it comes to the phone box, many people have their strong opinions. Both the teachers and students have mixed views when it comes to this subject. Teachers want them locked away for good and students believe it is a balance of their peer’s maturity levels.

Mr. Atkins states, “If it was up to me, I’d have people put it in the box at the beginning of the school day and lock that box till three o’clock.”

Bailey Emerson says, “I feel like it works well and still lets kids have the opportunity to talk to their parents if needed. It isn’t no contact with your parents or anyone the whole day since you’re still able to contact them. It’s also a matter of if people are mature enough and decide to use them.”

Ms. Beebe states, “I don’t think kids should have their phones at all. It’s a waste of time and it’s a temptation.”

Haley Vandermeer says, “I feel bad when people are on their phones when the teachers are talking, so it helps keeps us not distracted!”

Ultimately, the phone policy is a matter of what is the best for our school’s success. I think that we should keep the phones in the box as is. Putting them up all day is a bit too much. Let us contact our parents and have them in between classes since it doesn’t effect us then. In the class, we should definitely have to put them in the box.

What’s your opinion? Should we lock them away for the whole day or have them in between classes and in different boxes?
