Meet Day! 4/8/26


Today is Meet Day! 

I have interviewed a few members of the track team to get a look inside what goes on before a track meet here at NCS. They got ready and dressed to head to Lipscomb after 3rd block and were hanging out by the Jake when I interviewed them. We discussed how there is a lot of anxiety leading up in the day that every athlete has to deal with. It’s a matter of knowing what to eat and what not to eat and how to calm yourself when preparing. Rachel Horn tells us, “Before a race I feel like I’m genuinely sick to my stomach with nerves, but after the race is finished I feel instant relief and satisfaction.”

I then asked a couple questions…

What is your Go-To snack/meal before your race?

  • Rachel: Chick-fil-a fries and a Red Bull
  • Carson: a banana
  • Sawyer: a banana
  • Ava: Go-Go Squeeze (she highly recommends)

What are you running today?

  • Rachel: high jump, 200m, and 100m
  • Carson: high jump, 100m, 200m, and 300m hurdles
  • Sawyer: 100m, 200m, 400m
  • Ava: Long jump, 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles
