THE green screen:

In the broadcasting class we recently got a green screen. Well, we’ve had—it we just haven’t dragged it out of the box yet. We recently learned how to use the green screen. We’ve set it up in our classroom and then tried recording videos. We learned though, that it is a lot easier than you think it might be to make a video with a green screen. Basically all you have to do is import your video into Final Cut and layer it with another video and then select an effect that you want on top of it.

This class has been a great experience for all of us. We have gotten the opportunity to see what it is like to operate green screens and different methods of editing. Besides the green screen, we have learned a lot about video editing and other methods to broadcasting and media. One of my favorite things we have learned how to do is the proper way to put together an interview. After studying it the first semester and going out and trying it, I believe we have come a long way since we started. Our fourth broadcast was fantastic and I cannot wait to see us grow in the future.

Classes like these allow us students to experience what this career path holds in the real world. And those are the classes that we can most relate to. I can’t wait to see what other classes NCS offers in the future like these. I hope that we are able to grow our Career Technical education to not just technology but health care, architecture, financing, and so much more!  Our opportunities are endless here at NCS!
