Last Friday night the Eagles were on the road all the way to Millington, TN near Memphis. This game was all Eagles from the beginning and the end. The Eagles put up 49 points in the first half to wind up leading at half 49-16. The Eagles didn’t stop scoring in the 2nd half—putting up 12 points for a 61-23 win, giving them a number 2 seed in the playoffs.
The offence had a great game. Putting up 514 yards on the Rebels, Chad Kinnard went 2 for 6, 59 yards and 1 TD. Xavier Myers had a great game as usual. Myers scored 6 touchdowns in the first half. Myers had 22 carries for 389 yards and 7 TD. Myers averaged 17.7 yards a run; that got him another Titan Player off the Week nomination. Myers also passed the 2000 yard mark during the game. His total yards for this season is 2174, and is still leading the state for rushing yards and is ranked #21 nationally in rushing.
The Eagles defense had a good night; they only allowed 7 points. Two of Tipton scores were kickoff returns for TD. Junior Elijah Reid had a good night with 6 tackles and a fumble recovery. Junior Zach Young had 3 tackles and a INT. The defense held Tipton to only 132 total yards.
The Eagles are in the playoffs, but they have a bye week for the first week. They will either play Clarksville Academy or King’s Academy. Clarksville record is 3-7. King’s Academy is 7-3. King’s losses are from Greenback, Friendship Christian and Donelson Christian. The winner of Clarksville or King’s will play at Nashville Christian next week on November 10th.
