The Eagles Shutout Friendship

For the week of April 16-20, the Eagles had two games and went 1-1 on the week. The first game was against Friendship Christian on Tuesday at NCS. The Eagles ran a 5-3-2 with 5 defensemen, 3 midfielders and 2 center forwards. The Eagles played great defense against Friendship which let to great offensive chances.

The Eagles scoring started with a little help from Friendship, the Eagles had a corner kick and the ball deflected off a Friendship defender into the net, making the score 1-0 at the half.

In the second half the Eagles were aggressive, frustrating the Friendship defense. Junior Zach Clark started up the scoring for the 2nd half with the next two goals and sealing a big win.

Freshman Cavin Phung (center back) had this to say about the win, “It felt good to finally win one and we played some good defense not letting them score to get the shutout.”

Two days later the Eagles had to travel to Clarksville to face Clarksville Academy. CA came into this game 6-2-1—a very good team and showcased it. Clarksville had very talented players on offense who started the scoring early and poured it on; at the half the score was 4-0 CA. The Eagles stopped some off the bleeding with some offensive pressure but couldn’t get one in the net. Clarksville sealed the game 7-0.

The Eagles will have 3 games next week: April 24th vs Goodpasture at 5, April 26th @STEM at 4:30, and April 27th vs @Davidson Academy at 5:30.
