Eagles Fall Short But Ready To Bounce Back

Last Friday, October 13,  the Eagles played the number one team in the district, Davidson Academy. This was one of the biggest games in Tennessee. The game was on Friday Night Rivals on MyTv 30 and did not disappoint. It was a back and  forth game and a battle between two star running backs, Xavier Myers (NCS) and Da’joun Hewitt (DA). But the Eagles just came up a little bit short 28-31.

The Eagles showed everyone that they can compete with good teams. The Eagles didn’t have a  good night throwing the ball but they did what they do best. Xavier Myers was a stud and had a career night. NCS’s star running back had 332 yards rushing on 36 carries and 4 TDs. That performance made him a nominee for Titans player of the week. Myers now leads the state in rushing yards with 1662 yards.

The Eagles defense helped the offense with 2 sacks, 6 TFLs, and caused 2 fumbles that gave the offense more opportunity to score.

The Eagles will face Clarksville Academy Friday night, Oct. 20, and this is a definitely a rivalry game. Clarksville is a good team with a record of 3-5 on the year, 2-3 in the district. Their wins are over Zion Christian, Rossville Christian, and Fulton.

The Eagles should easily handle this game. Clarksville Academy allowed 324 yards rushing last game to Middle Tennessee Christian.

Friday Night is also Senior Night, so come out and support your seniors, and senior players. Festivities start at 6:30. The game starts at 7. There will also be a broadcast of the game on nfhsnetwork.com
