Last Friday, the NCS Eagles traveled to Jackson, Tennessee to face the Jackson Christian Eagles. NCS came into this game with a record of 1-3. Jackson Christian was 2-2.
The game started slow with both defenses playing good but NCS opened up the scoring with a 90 yard TD pass from Brayden Bonds to Devon Clarke. At the end of 1st quarter the score was 7-0 NCS. At the start of the second quarter NCS subbed in a new quarterback, Matt McClary. McClary added to the score with a 1 yard TD run to make it 14-0 at the half.
At the start of the second half NCS added 3 more points with a field goal from Zach Clark to make it 17-0. Jackson Christian started getting momentum towards the end of third with a 44 yard TD pass to make it 17-7 at the end of the third. Late in the 4th JC scored making it 17-13. The NCS defense stepped up big in the dying seconds of the game to get the road win 17-13.
NCS had a great game throwing the ball. Brayden Bonds was 4 of 6 for 109 yards and 1 TD. Devon Clarke had 3 catches for 123 yards, 1 TD, and he also had a interception. The Eagles leading rusher was Matt McClary with 42 yards and 1 D. Leading tackler for the Eagles Jesse Parrish had 13 tackles and 1 sack.
The Eagles will host FRA this Friday at NCS for homecoming. The Eagles come into this game at 2-3 and FRA is 2-2. FRA has great talent on the team and should bring an exciting game.The Eagles defeated FRA last year 25-22.
