NCS vs Clarksville Academy

Thursday, February 4th, 2016, the Nashville Christian Eagles played the Clarksville Academy Cougars. The first game played was the JV game between the boys from respective teams. The Eagles trailed at the half by 8, struggling offensively. The second half was a different story. Junior Jacob Ogle had 15 points in the second half, including 4 three pointers to lead the Eagles to a 6 point victory. Junior Andrew Sullivan added 13 as NCS took the first game of the 3 on the night. After the game, I asked what Freshman Miles Smith thought about the game. “We struggled in the first half, but Coach Quinn made changes and he really led us to the win tonight.” There was much praise for Coach Kevin Quinn after this win.

In game 2 of the night, the Lady Cougars and Lady Eagles faced off. The Lady Eagles got off to a great start leading by 10 points early on in the 2nd quarter. NCS never trailed in this game, winning by 20 points, 56-36. Junior guard Abbie Page led the Eagles, along with junior guard Sonja Shelton, and senior Forward Mia Curtis. This was a big win for the Eagles, heading into the final 2 games of the district. The Lady Eagles look to win their final 4 games heading into the tournament season. Following the game, I caught up with Abbie Page following her great performance. “We played well and I’m glad we could get this big victory.”

In the finale of the night, the boys took the court for the varsity game. A win for the Eagles would secure their spot for 2nd place in the tournament. NCS got off to a slow start, but like the Lady Eagles, never trailed in the game. Senior Forward Zell Walker shot great for the outside and in the lane to lead the Eagles to a big victory. Daniel Bituli and Jaylon Jackson dominated the boards and controlled the lane with their defense and great offensive post play. The Eagles look to be on the rise heading to tournament time, and many believe this team will make a deep run in the tournament.
