Football Season Recap


The Eagles Football team finished 8-4 on the season after getting eliminated by Friendship Christian in the semi-finals. The game was hard fought from both sides but  Friendship got a late score to make the final 27-23.

The Eagles eight wins were against Fayette Academy, Zion Christian, Jackson Christian, FRA, Rossville Christian, Clarksville, Tipton Rosemark, and TKA.

The Eagles had a great season as they finished 8-4 and 6-1 in the district and were ranked 102 in the state.

The Eagles offense put up some great numbers this season. Senior (QB) Chad Kinnard was 64 for 145, with 964 yards and 13 TD. Kinnard finished third in the district for passing yards.

A big contributor to the offense was junior (RB) Xavier Myers. Myers finished the year with 2634 yards rushing on 264 carries and 34 TD. Myers finished 1st in the district and 2nd in the state in rushing yards.

Senior (WR) Jesse Watson finished the year with 34 catches for 528 yards and 6 TD.

The Eagles defense also did great this season. Leading tackler for the Eagles was junior (LB) Jesse Parrish with 81 tackles, 8.5 TFL. Parrish finished second in the district in tackles.  Brant Lawless leading sacker 6.5 sacks he also had 49 tackles 16.5 TFL. Jesse Watson also had great year. Watson had 53 tackles and 6 INT.

The Eagles also had two nominees for the Mr.Football award for Division II 1A with senior Brant Lawless and junior Xavier Myers. The third nominee was from Davidson: Dajoun Hewitt. The winner was Brant Lawless. Lawless’ career stats for NCS include 159 tackles and 10.5 sacks. Lawless plans on playing for the University Of Tennessee next year at college.

The State Championship game featured Donelson Christian (9-3) vs Friendship Christian (12-0) on December 2 at Tucker Stadium in Cookeville. Friendship emerged as the game winner and new state champ.
