On August 3, 2017 former NHL Predators player Mike Fisher retired. Fisher played 17 years in the league; but on January 31, 2018 Fisher announced that he is coming out of retirement and wants to play for the Predators.
Fisher was solid for the Preds last year scoring 18 goals and had 24 assists and 42 points. Fisher was a former captain for the Predators, and played in 20 of their 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games as Nashville went to the Finals. Fisher will provide depth in the center position. As the Predators found out in the Final last season, you can never have enough healthy bodies to play center.
Tyler Demonbreun, on impact of Fisher will make, said “ He will make a great impact on the team and he has great chemistry with players.”
Fisher said in his interview that, “The more I thought about it, and I really didn’t decide until recently, I just thought about the opportunity, how good this team is. Thought a lot about the run last year, and what could be.” via Tennessean
There is no time table of when Fisher will return the ice. He will have to get back on the ice and get into shape and condition but i think it won’t take long before he is back on the ice.
The Predators are currently 2nd in their division and 3rd in the Western Conference, the Preds are hoping to make a another run to the Cup finals.
