Four years after finishing one spot off the podium, the American snowboarder Shaun White won the Olympics halfpipe final. The event was very intense—so intense that it came down to the last run.
White was in second after Japan’s Ayumu Hirano posted a 95.25 on his second run that put him in first place. It all came down to the last run for White and he did what he does best. White got a score of 97.75 on his final run to win his 3rd Gold medal.
Dominic Stephens junior on White’s performance said, “It was amazing and I think he is the greatest snowboarder of all time.”
The 31 year old snowboarder seems to look like he hasn’t missed a step. This is White’s fourth Winter Olympics and all of them had his participation in thehalf pipe. White has won 3 gold medals now in Turin, Vancouver, and PyeongChang. White came in 4th in Sochi.
White was very emotional in his interview saying, “I’m standing at the top, one run to go, the world’s watching, my whole family’s here, everybody’s cheering for me, and I just put it down.” I’m an Olympic gold medalist again. Wow.” via USA Today.
Jordan Williams on Shaun White’s career said, “He is the best and he is the goat for USA snowboarding.”
Shaun White continues to amaze us and maybe Summer Olympics. White wants to skateboarding in 2020 in Tokyo hopefully he will continue his career. Go USA!
