Another Night in Nashville

PinnacleWhether you like music, sports, or just a good time, Thursday night, Sep. 3, in Nashville was for you. 2 football games, 2 concerts, and a baseball game were the events to pick from Thursday night.

First, we had the Tennessee Titans in the finale of their preseason. Taking on the Minnesota Vikings at Nissan Stadium, the Titans got out to a quick 14-0 start behind the play of Marcus Mariota and a stellar Titans defense. The final score was 24-17 as the Titans finish the preseason 2-2.

“It was a fun night and an incredible atmosphere at the game. I’m glad they could pull it out at the end. It’s going to be a fun year of football,” said Slater Howard, 11th, who attended the game.

Next, we find ourselves at Dudley Field for the Vanderbilt Commodores to take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. Coming off of a 3-9 season, Vanderbilt looks to rebound in this season opener. The Commodores held WKU scoreless in the first half, as it was 3-0 at halftime.

“I’m not a big Vanderbilt fan, but I love football and having that feeling again of fall nights and college football feels great,” said Kesler Quinn., 11th. Even with a great effort at the end, Vanderbilt falls to 0-1 after a 14-12 loss to this Conference USA Team.

Finally, the Nashville Sounds were taking on the Round Rock Express in the season finale at First Tennessee Park. Though the season has not been pretty, a win tonight would be assuring heading into next season. The Express jump out to an early lead and never look back, as Nashville loses this one 8-1 in their inaugural season at First Tennessee Park.

After the game, Katie Cain, 11th,  said, “I’m glad they got the new stadium. The other one was getting rough, and even though it wasn’t a great year, we have something to build off of for next season.”

You can see it was a fun night in Music City, and there is plenty more to do on the nights to come.
