The Eagles faced a talented BGA team last Friday, and the Eagles responded well. Their first half struggles continued though as they went down 21-0 again but scored right before half to make it 21-6.
BGA’s defense stepped up in the 4th quarter, and held the Eagles scoreless with key stops to get them the win 21-13.
The Eagles put up some good numbers on BGA’s defense. The Eagles offense had 338 yards against BGA. The offensive line had a few good blocks and that gave time for quarterback Chad Kinnard to throw and also made lanes for Xavier Myers to run.
Xavier Myers looked like himself coming back from an injury. Myers had 37 carries for 228 yards. Myers averaged 6 yards per run and he also had a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown.
The Eagles have not started 0-2 since 2009. The Eagles went 2-9 that year. But the Eagles can put these two games behind them, because district play starts Friday. The Eagles will face Fayette Academy. This will be a road trip for Eagles as they’re headed to Somerville, TN which is right outside of Memphis.
Fayette Academy is also 0-2 with losses coming from Northpoint Christian and Trinity Christian Academy. Both teams are seeking for their first season win and first district win.
The Eagles will have the advantage this week. The team is looking solid and does not shy away from adversity—but they might have to swim their way to victory as Hurricane Harvey is making its way up into our area and possibly dumping about 7 inches of rain on Memphis.
